Democracy Day: ECN DG Hails Tinubu’s Leadership, Reaffirms Commitment to National Development
The Director-General of the Energy Commission of Nigeria (ECN), Engr. Mustapha Abdullahi, has congratulated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on the occasion of the 2026 Democracy Day celebration, commending his administration’s commitment to democratic governance, national unity, and sustainable development.
In a statement issued on Thursday in Abuja, Abdullahi, on behalf of the management and staff of the commission, described Democracy Day as a significant moment in Nigeria’s history, noting that it serves as a reminder of the sacrifices made by patriotic citizens in the struggle for freedom, justice, and the preservation of democratic values.
According to him, the annual celebration provides an opportunity for reflection on the importance of visionary leadership, accountable governance, and inclusive nation-building.
The ECN boss praised President Tinubu’s leadership, saying the administration had demonstrated courage and determination in implementing reforms aimed at repositioning the country for growth and prosperity.
He noted that Nigerians had continued to witness strategic interventions across critical sectors, including the economy, infrastructure, energy, and institutional development.
“Under your administration, Nigerians have continued to witness bold reforms and strategic interventions aimed at repositioning the economy, strengthening institutions, improving infrastructure, deepening energy access, and restoring hope in the nation’s future,” he stated.
Abdullahi further lauded the President’s Renewed Hope Agenda, describing it as a policy direction that has inspired confidence among citizens and reinforced optimism about Nigeria’s future.
He said the agenda has strengthened public belief that the country is on the path toward greater prosperity, stability, and sustainable development.
“As we commemorate this important national milestone, I commend your courage, resilience, and determination in steering the affairs of the nation at a critical period in our democratic journey,” he said.
The ECN Director-General also paid tribute to Nigerians for their resilience and unwavering faith in democracy, describing the citizenry as the backbone of the nation’s progress.
He emphasized that national unity, hard work, and collective responsibility remain essential ingredients for building a peaceful, economically vibrant, and prosperous Nigeria.
Abdullahi prayed for continued wisdom, sound health, and divine guidance for President Tinubu as he leads the country, expressing confidence that the nation would continue to make progress under his stewardship.
He also extended Democracy Day greetings to all Nigerians, urging citizens to remain committed to democratic ideals and the collective pursuit of national development.
